CORRECTED DATASET for Timothy J. Power and Rodrigo Rodrigues-Silveira, Mapping Ideological Preferences in Brazilian Elections, 1994-2018: A Municipal-Level Study, BRAZILIAN POLITICAL SCIENCE REVIEW 13, no. 1 (2019): 1-27.

The dataset uploaded by the authors to the website of the Brazilian Political Science Review on 11 February 2019 was the incorrect version, as it did not include data from the October 2018 elections (which were used in the published article). The present version corrects this omission.

In addition, our earlier 1994-2016 dataset contained some minor errors. We are grateful to Bruno Hoepers (University of Pittsburgh) for drawing attention to the two issues below:

1) Some records for municipality/year were duplicated

The ideology score for PTB for 2006 was misspelled as 2008. This error gave PTB two scores for 2008, causing 23 observations in 2008 to be duplicated. We corrected the original file containing the scores.

2) There were two municipal codes assigned incorrectly.

The codes for Couto de Magalhaes (TO) and Itajape (CE) were wrongly assigned. We reviewed the conversion table between IBGE and TSE codes and corrected the codes.

Once the errors were corrected, we reran the scripts to generate a new dataset and performed tests to verify the consistency of the data. We also checked for the potential effects of these errors on the overall results of the article. As the duplicated observations accounted for 0.065% of all observations, they had no impact on the results. We also updated the methodological notes with the new data.
